How to make a wreath charcuterie
Cut pepper jack into 1-inch cubes. Use a cookie cutter to make stars from the cheese slices if desired. For the brie, cut out a star and fill the center with cranberry sauce, jam, or honey.
Make salami roses by overlapping salami slices in a line, roll them up, and secure with a toothpick. Adjust the size based on the number of slices used.
Use fresh herbs to form an outer circle and a smaller inner circle on the board.
Place the brie on the board. Add salami roses on opposite sides, add the crackers
Add olives, nuts and cheeses by placing them in various spots. Roll or fan out the prosciutto and place in two spots.
Fill gaps with fruit and decorate with star-shaped cheese. You can also add extra herbs to fill out the wreath. Serve and enjoy!
How to store leftovers
To store leftovers from a charcuterie board, wrap meats and cheeses tightly in plastic wrap or place them in airtight containers to prevent drying out.
Crackers should be stored separately in a sealed container at room temperature to keep them crisp.
However, only store crackers that haven’t softened from being left out too long or from contact with moisture from other ingredients.
Fresh fruits, nuts, and sweets can also be stored in airtight containers in the fridge.
Refrigerate perishable items within two hours of serving, and consume meats and cheeses within 3-5 days.
Helpful Tips
- Plan Your Ingredients: Start by selecting a variety of meats, cheeses, fruits, and extras like nuts or crackers. Aim for a mix of textures and flavors; salty, sweet, creamy, and crunchy.
- Shape the Wreath First: Use a round serving platter or simply arrange your ingredients in a circular shape. Start with larger items, like wedges of cheese, and fill in the gaps with smaller ingredients.
- Focus on Balance: Ensure a balance of colors and textures. Add greenery like rosemary sprigs or arugula to mimic the look of a traditional wreath.
- Keep It Simple: Don’t overwhelm your board with too many ingredients. A thoughtfully curated selection will be more visually appealing and easier to enjoy.
- Have extra ingredients to replenish the board as people fill their plates.
FAQs
A mix of cured meats, cheeses, seasonal fruits like grapes or cranberries, nuts, crackers, and fresh herbs for garnish are all great options for a wreath charcuterie board.
No special board is required. You can use any large, round platter or even arrange the items directly on a clean, flat surface in the shape of a wreath.
You can prep the ingredients (slice cheeses, arrange meats) a few hours ahead of time and store them in the fridge. Assemble the board just before serving to keep everything fresh.
The 3-3-3-3 rule is a simple guideline for building a well-balanced charcuterie board by including a variety of flavors and textures.
It suggests adding three types of meats, such as salami, prosciutto, or pepperoni, along with three different cheeses, like cheddar, brie, or gouda.
You’ll also include three starches, which can be crackers, breadsticks, or pretzels, and finish it off with three sweets, such as fruit, chocolate, or honey.
This rule ensures your board has a varied selection to appeal to different tastes while keeping the layout visually appealing.

Instructions
Prep the cheese:
- Cut the pepper jack into 1-inch cubes. For the cheese slices, cut them into smaller squares, and if you’d like, use a cookie cutter to make star shapes.
- For the brie, use a large star-shaped cutter to cut out a star in the center. Scoop out the star-shaped piece and fill the space with cranberry sauce, jam, or honey.
Make the salami roses:
- Lay out the salami slices in a row, overlapping them slightly.
- Roll them up tightly and secure the shape with a toothpick.
- You can make larger or smaller roses depending on the number of slices you use. Repeat this process with the rest of the salami.
Arrange the wreath outline:
- Once the cheese and salami are ready, use fresh herbs to form an outer wreath circle on the board. .
- Create a smaller inner circle to mark the center. Feel free to adjust the shape as you build the board
Assembling the board
- Position the cranberry-filled brie round on the board.
- Place the salami roses on opposite sides of the board.
- Spread the crackers, nuts, and olives around the board in various spots.
- Add the pepper jack cubes and the cheese slices.
- Separate and either roll or fan out the prosciutto slices, placing them in two bunches on opposite sides of the board.
- Fill any empty spaces with fresh fruit, then make adjustments by adding more ingredients as needed. Use the star-shaped cheese pieces as decoration.
Add finishing touches:
- Add extra herbs to give the wreath a fuller appearance and refine the shape of the circle.
Serve and enjoy:
- Serve the board with extra cranberry sauce or honey on the side and enjoy!
Notes
- Feel free to use any sliced meats you prefer. Popular choices include pepperoni, salami, and prosciutto, but deli meats like turkey or chicken work well too.
- Pick any cheeses you enjoy! Options like sharp cheddar, white cheddar, Monterey Jack, Colby Jack, pepper jack, Swiss, blue cheese, or mozzarella balls are all great choices.
- For crackers, I like to mix different flavors, shapes, and textures. You can use Ritz or opt for an assorted box of entertainment crackers for variety.
