How to make a watermelon pizza

Wash the watermelon thoroughly.

Cut a 1 to 2 inch thick circular slice from the center of the watermelon for the pizza base.

Pat the surface of the watermelon slice dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

Cut the watermelon into 8 wedges. Spread 1 tablespoon each of the Greek yogurt on each watermelon wedge.

Arrange the fruit toppings on top of the yogurt and serve.

How to store

Watermelon pizza is best eaten immediately or at least within a couple of hours. However. It should be kept refrigerated till ready to eat.

Helpful Tips

  • Choose a ripe seedless watermelon for best flavor.
  • Patting the watermelon surface dry with a paper towel will keep the yogurt from sliding off
  • Use a variety of colorful fruits to make it even more vibrant.
  • Drizzle with honey or a balsamic glaze to add a flavor twist.
  • You may need to cut some fruits like strawberries and blackberries into halves of quarters before using them.

FAQs

Are there any savory versions?

Some people enjoy adding feta cheese and mint for a savory twist.

What fruits work well as toppings?

Most berries, sliced kiwi, chopped mango, and grapes are popular choices. Avoid very juicy fruits that might make the watermelon too watery.

Can I make watermelon pizza ahead of time?

I don’t recommend assembling the fruit pizza ahead of time. However, while you can prepare the watermelon base in advance, it’s best to add toppings just before serving to keep everything fresh and crisp.
