If you’re wondering how to make a salami rose, it’s easier than you might think, and the results are always a hit.
This simple technique turns slices of salami into a pretty rose shape that instantly adds a wow factor to any charcuterie board or snack platter.

What are salami roses?
Salami roses are decorative food arrangements made by layering slices of salami to resemble a rose.
Most are formed by overlapping the slices around the rim of a wine glass or similar round object, creating petal-like folds. I’ll also share an easy method that doesn’t require a glass.
Once shaped, the salami rose can be placed on a charcuterie board or platter for a fun and beautiful presentation.

How to make a salami rose without a wine glass
Start with a base slice: Lay a slice of salami flat on a cutting board. Add more layers in a straight line making sure there's an overlap. Then fan out the lined up salamis slightly
Roll up: Roll the slices up tightly to form the rose.

Secure the rose with a toothpick and repeat the process to make more roses.
Add the roses to your charcuterie boards or use in charcuterie skewers.

Making a salami rose with a wine glass
Place a slice on the rim: Place a slice of salami over the rim of the glass fold the slice in halfway so it folds slightly into the glass.
Add more slices: Continue overlapping slices around the rim, slightly layering each one over the last. For a fuller rose, aim for about 6–8 slices per layer depending on the diameter of the rim of the glass you are using.
Build layers: Once the first circle is complete, start a second layer above the first, using fewer slices (about 4–6) to taper the shape.
Flip the glass: Carefully turn the shot glass upside down onto your board, then gently lift the glass to reveal the rose.

Helpful Tips
- Thinner slices of salami make it easier to fold and shape into a rose. It helps the petals look delicate and even.
- Begin with a smaller number of slices (about 6-8) when forming your first rose. You can always add more as you get more confident.
- A simple wine glass is the easiest tool to shape your salami rose. Layer the slices over the rim of the glass, slightly overlapping them as you go around.
- Once you’ve formed your salami rose, refrigerate it for 10-15 minutes. This helps it keep its shape longer on your charcuterie board.
- You can vary the size of your roses by adding more or fewer slices. For a fuller rose, use about 10-12 slices.

How to make a salami rose
Ingredients
- 12 oz Salami
Instructions
No Glass Method
- Lay one slice of salami flat on a cutting board.
- Place additional slices in a straight line, overlapping each one slightly.
- Gently fan out the row of salami slices to create a petal-like curve.
- Starting from one end, tightly roll the slices into a rose shape.
- Insert a toothpick through the base to hold the shape.
- Make multiple roses to decorate your charcuterie boards or add to skewers for individual servings.
Shot Glass Method
- Place one slice of salami halfway over the rim of a clean shot glass, letting it fold slightly inside.
- Continue overlapping slices around the rim, forming a circle (6–8 slices for the first layer).
- Start a second layer above the first with 4–6 more slices, slightly tighter to taper the shape.
- Once layered, flip the shot glass upside down onto your board.
- Gently lift the glass to reveal your salami rose.
Notes
- Thinner salami is easier to shape and holds better.
- If your rose gets too warm or soft, pop it in the fridge for a few minutes to help it firm up.
- This technique also works with pepperoni, prosciutto (folded), or other deli slices.
- You can assemble your roses a few hours in advance. Store them in an airtight container in the fridge until ready to serve.
- You can make bigger roses with a wider rimmed glass.
