How to make Panda Express teriyaki chicken
Pat the chicken thighs dry, season with salt and pepper on both sides. Heat up oil over medium heat, sear the chicken thighs, cooking for 6 to 7 mins per side. Remove from heat and set aside in a plate.
Make a slurry with cornstarch and water. Mix all the sauce ingredients in a bowl then add the slurry and mix again.

Transfer the sauce into the same saucepan you cooked the chicken in, cook the sauce on low heat for 2 mins, stirring frequently.
Next put the chicken back into the skillet coat it with the sauce, let it simmer for about 5 mins so that it thickens. Keep an eye on it so it doesn't thicken too much.

What to serve with Panda Express chicken teriyaki
Pair your teriyaki chicken with boiled white rice, brown rice, fried rice or cauliflower rice with a side of stir fried or steamed veggies like broccoli, carrots.
We sometimes serve our Panda Express chicken teriyaki with green beans almondine or coleslaw.

How to store and reheat
Store leftover teriyaki chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. To reheat, microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between each, until heated through.
Alternatively, reheat in a skillet over medium heat, adding a splash of water as needed to prevent it from drying out.

Helpful Tips
- Use chicken thighs for more flavor and tenderness.
- If you've got time on your hands, marinate the chicken for at least 30 minutes to add more flavor.
- Don't overcook the chicken to keep it juicy.
- If you find that the sauce is too thick, add some water about a tablespoon at a time to lighten it up.
FAQs
Yes, you can use chicken breast, but be careful not to overcook it as it can dry out more easily than thighs.
If you are looking to swap out soy sauce in this recipe, try any of the following soy sauce substitutes; Coconut aminos, Liquid aminos and Tamari or Kikkoman for gluten free. While Worcestershire sauce isn't very close in flavor, it can be used in a pinch.
You can leave out the brown sugar completely or swap out with honey or a sugar free sweetener of choice.
