    How to store

Store Easter Chex Mix in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, keep it in the fridge for up to two weeks.

    Helpful Tips

    • Melt chocolate carefully. Stir frequently to prevent burning.
    • Stir the cereal, pretzels, and nuts into the melted wafers first before adding the M&Ms or sprinkles. This allows the coating to cool slightly, preventing the M&Ms from losing their color.
    • Use fresh ingredients. Stale cereal or pretzels can affect the texture.
    • Customize the mix. Add nuts, dried fruit, or coconut flakes for variety.
    • White chocolate chips or almond bark can be used in place of Ghirardelli melting wafers.

    FAQs

Can I use a different type of chocolate?

Yes! Milk or dark chocolate works if you prefer a true chocolate flavor. However, I think the white chocolate gives a better spring color.

How far in advance can I make this?

Up to a week ahead, just store it in an airtight container.

    Can I add peanut butter?

Yes! Stir a little melted peanut butter into the white chocolate for extra flavor.

What’s the best way to package this for gifts?

Use clear treat bags tied with a ribbon, or fill small jars for a cute presentation.

    Can I make this gluten-free?

Yes! Use gluten-free Chex cereal and pretzels.

    Equipment

    • Rimmed baking sheet
    • Parchment paper
    • Mixing bowls
    • Double boiler (or microwave)

    Ingredients

    • 3 cups Honey nut Chex cereal
    • 2 cups Honey nut Cheerios
    • 1 ½ cups mini pretzels
    • 1 ½ cups salted peanuts
    • 15 ounces Ghirardelli white chocolate melting wafers
    • 10 ounce Pastel milk chocolate m&ms
    • Spring sprinkles mix (optional)

    Instructions

    • Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
    • In a large bowl, mix the Chex, Cheerios, mini pretzels, and salted peanuts.
    • Place the Ghirardelli melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 30-second intervals on a low or defrost setting, stirring after each round, until smooth and fully melted.
    • Pour the melted wafers over the cereal mixture. Gently fold with a spatula or spoon until everything is evenly coated.
    • Add the M&M’s and mix lightly.
    • Spread the coated mixture onto the prepared baking sheet in an even layer. If using sprinkles, add them now.
    • Let the mixture sit at room temperature for 20–30 minutes until set. To speed up the process, refrigerate for about 10 minutes.
    • Once firm, break it into smaller pieces and serve in a bowl or divide into treat bags. Enjoy!

    Notes

    1. Stir the cereal, pretzels, and nuts into the melted wafers first before adding the M&Ms or sprinkles. This allows the coating to cool slightly, preventing the M&Ms from losing their color.
    2. Feel free to customize with different cereals, nuts, or pretzel shapes. You can also mix in granola, plain popcorn, or mini marshmallows for added texture.
    3. White chocolate chips or almond bark can be used in place of Ghirardelli melting wafers.
