    Helpful Tips

    • Using a food processor makes it quick. If you don’t have one, a zip-top bag and rolling pin works too.
    • Feel free to use unsalted butter for this recipe. However I prefer to use salted butter to balance out the sweetness.
    • You can try different variations by using other cookies like shortbread or vanilla cookies instead of golden Oreos.
    • Don’t overprocess the mix. Leaving some small chunks adds the perfect crunch. You can also choose the size of crumbs you want when processing it in the food processor.

    FAQs

Can I use fresh strawberries instead of freeze-dried strawberries?

No, fresh strawberries contain moisture, which will make the topping soggy instead of crunchy.

Does this need to be baked?

No, this is a no-bake recipe. The butter helps hold everything together, and the topping stays crunchy.

Can I make this ahead of time?

Yes! It stores well in an airtight container, so you can prepare it days in advance.

Is there a substitute for freeze dried strawberries?

Yes! If you don’t have freeze-dried strawberries, here are a few alternatives.

Strawberry Jello Powder adds a similar strawberry flavor and color without moisture.

Strawberry Powder made from Pre-ground freeze-dried strawberries have the same taste and color.

What other cookies can I use instead of golden Oreos?

You can use shortbread cookies, vanilla cookies, or any store brand vanilla sandwich cookie.
