How to make Rice Krispie egg nests

Divide the coconut flakes into two ziploc bags. Add about 2 to 3 drops of desired food color into each bag. Massage the bags till the colors have blended in. Be sure to refer to our full guide on how to color shredded coconut if you need more info.
Melt the butter over low heat, melt butter. Add mini marshmallows to melted butter stir till the marshmallows are fully melted.
Turn off the heat, stir in vanilla extract before pouring in the Rice Krispie cereal. Fold in the cereal until all the cereal is coated in the marshmallow mix.
Scoop 3-4 tablespoons of the Rice Krispies treat mixture into each muffin cup.
Using your fingers, press down and mold the treats into a "nest" shape, leaving a small indentation in the center. Let nest sit at room temperature for about 30 mins to set.
Once set, place a spoonful of Nutella into the indentation of each nest.
Sprinkle colored shredded coconut over the Nutella in each nest.
Top each nest with 3 mini Cadbury eggs, pressing them gently into the Nutella.
Use a butter knife or skewer to carefully remove each nest from the muffin tin.

Rice Krispie egg nests
Equipment
- Large pot
- 2 12-cup muffin tins
- 2 Medium Ziploc bags
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons salted butter
- 4 cups mini marshmallows (about ¾ of a 10 oz bag)
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 5 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 1 ½ cups Shredded coconut
- Gel food coloring in colors of choice
- 1 cup Nutella (or Cadbury spread)
- 1 ¼ cup Cadbury mini eggs (about 54 pieces)
Instructions
Dye the shredded coconut
- Divide the shredded coconut into two Ziploc bags
- Add a 2 to 3 drops of food color to each Ziploc bag.
- Massage bags till all the shredded coconut bits are well coated with color then set aside.
Make the Rice Krispie treats
- Lightly grease muffin tins and set aside.
- In a large pot over low heat, melt the butter, add the mini marshmallows and continue to stir over low heat until melted.
- Turn off the heat, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Assemble the nests
- Add the rice krispies cereal and gently fold together until the cereal is evenly coated with the melted marshmallow mix.
- Scoop 3-4 tablespoons of the rice krispies mix into each of the pockets of the muffin tin.
- Use your fingers to press them down and mold them into the shape of the tin. Leave a small dip in the center to fill with Nutella. Allow it to set at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- Once the nests have set, scoop a spoonful of Nutella on top of each Rice Krispies nest.
- Sprinkle the colored coconut shreds over the Nutella and top each one with 3 mini Cadbury eggs.
- Use a butter knife or skewer to remove each nest from the tin. Place on a serving plate.
Notes
- If using unsalted butter, add ⅛ teaspoon of salt to the butter when melting it.
- You can swap the regular rice krispies for cocoa krispies or another cereal like cocoa pebbles or fruity pebbles.
- Swap out Nutella, for Cadbury chocolate spread, Biscoff cookie butter, or peanut butter.
- If you don’t want to use coconut shreds, you can purchase edible grass online. Those come in different flavors. Alternatively use sprinkles or leave it out entirely.
