    How to make Pistachio syrup

    In a small saucepan, combine the pistachios, sugar, water and salt.

    Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly.

    Once boiling, reduce heat and simmer for 2 minutes, continuing to stir, until sugar dissolves.

    Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.

    Once cooled, pour through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth.

    Transfer strained syrup to an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to use.

    How to use Pistachio syrup

    Stir a spoonful or two into coffee, tea, milk or nut milk for a Starbucks pistachio coffee copycat drink.

    Sweeten up cocktails, lemonades, milkshakes or smoothies too.

    Ingredients
      

    • 1 cup salted Pistachios shelled
    • 1 cup Sugar
    • 1 cup Water
    • A pinch of salt if using unsalted pistachios

    Instructions
     

    • Roughly chop all of the nuts and add in a saucepan.
    • Add sugar and salt. If using in unsalted pistachios, then add water. Stir to combine.
    • Bring water to boil then reduce to a simmer. Simmer for 8 to 10 minutes.
    • Strain the syrup with a sieve. Then transfer to a jar and refrigerate till you are ready to use.
    • Bake or air fry the drained pistachios to make candied pecans. You can use it as ice cream toppings.
