How to make rolo pretzel turkeys
Preheat oven to 275°F and line two baking sheets with parchment. Work in small batches to keep chocolate soft during assembly.
Arrange 6-12 pretzel twists upside down on each sheet.
Place an unwrapped Rolo near the bottom of each pretzel, leaving space at the top for candy corn.
Bake for 1 minute, just enough to soften the Rolos without melting.
Remove from oven and immediately press three candy corn pieces into the top of each Rolo for feathers.
Add two candy eyes near the top of each Rolo.
Place an M&M below the eyes for a beak, pressing gently to secure.
Pipe a small line of red icing next to the beak for the wattle. Let these set at room temperature for 20 minutes or refrigerate for 5-10 minutes to speed up setting.
Repeat with remaining ingredients and keep in the fridge until serving. Enjoy!
How to store
To keep your Rolo pretzel turkeys fresh, store them in an airtight container at room temperature.
These pretzel turkeys are best consumed within a week or two as prolonged exposure to air may soften the pretzels. Avoid storing them in overly warm areas, as this may melt the Rolo candies.
Helpful Tips
- Melt with Care: Use a low oven temperature to slightly soften the Rolos for easy assembly without fully melting them.
- Organize Ingredients: Arrange all decorations like candy eyes and pretzels before softening the Rolos to assemble quickly.
- Have Fun with Variations: Get creative! Try different candies for turkey “feathers” or add edible color sprinkles for extra flair.
FAQs
Yes! Rolo pretzel turkeys can be made up to a week in advance. Just store them in an airtight container at room temperature to keep them fresh.
If you don’t have candy eyes, try using mini chocolate chips or even small dots of frosting to create eyes.
They do not need refrigeration. Once these have set, you can leave them at room temperature in a cool air tight container.
However, if you need to keep for longer than 2 weeks, you can refrigerate in an airtight container. Bear in mind that with time, condensation can make the pretzels begin to soften.

Rolo pretzel turkeys
Equipment
- Baking tray
- Parchment paper
Ingredients
- 24 mini pretzel twists
- 24 Rolo candy (unwrapped)
- 72 candy corn pieces
- 48 candy eyeballs
- ½ cup Mini m&m candy (Orange and yellow ¼ cup of each)
- Red decorative icing
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 275°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. For easier assembly, work in small batches so the chocolate doesn’t harden before you finish each turkey.
- Place 6-12 pretzel twists upside down on the parchment-lined sheets.
- Put one unwrapped Rolo on each pretzel, positioning it slightly toward the bottom to leave room for the candy corn “feathers” at the top.
- Bake the pretzels with Rolos for about 1 minute—just enough to soften the chocolate without melting it entirely, which makes it easier to add the decorations without losing the shape.
- Remove from the oven and quickly press three candy corn pieces into the top of each softened Rolo for the turkey’s feathers, being careful not to shift the Rolo.
- Place two candy eyes on the upper part of each Rolo for the turkey’s eyes.
- Press an M&M just below the eyes to create a beak, securing it gently in place.
- Using red icing, add a small line to one side of the M&M to form the wattle or snood.
- Let the turkeys set fully at room temperature for about 20 minutes or chill them in the refrigerator for 5-10 minutes to speed things up.
- Repeat the process with any remaining Rolos and pretzels. Store the completed turkeys in the fridge until you’re ready to serve. Enjoy!
Notes
- Adjust the recipe as needed by halving, doubling, or tripling it based on how many treats you want to make. It’s best to work in small batches. If the chocolate sets too quickly (especially in cooler rooms), it can make it challenging to add the candy corn “feathers.”
- Pretzel twists vary in size. If yours are smaller and don’t provide enough room behind the Rolo to support the candy corn, try trimming the white tips off the candy corn before placing them. Hold each piece in place for 5-10 seconds to help it stick.
- For the turkey’s wattle or snood, you can use melted red candy wafers, red cookie icing, or red frosting in a piping bag. If using candy melts, let them cool slightly before snipping the tip to pipe; otherwise, they may flow too quickly and make decorating tricky.
