How to make Oreo crabs
Make a template
Place one Oreo cookie on a parchment paper, trace around it with a pencil or edible marker. Trace enough circles for the amount of Oreo crabs you plan to make.
Draw the 3 sticks on each side of that circles and two sticks at the top with a thick 'V' for the claws.
Add about a 2 tablespoons of melting wafers to a piping bag twist the ends then pop into the microwave and microwave at 20 secs intervals massaging in between until fully melted.
Snip a small bit of the tip off, then pipe it over the legs and pincers of the crab on your template. Leave it to set

Next melt the rest of the chocolate wafers in the microwave. With a fork, dip each cookie into the melted chocolate, tap off the excess.

Immediately place the dipped Oreo on the traced circle. Add some of the red sugar pearls on the back of the crab then add the candy eyes.

While the dipped Oreo crabs are setting, make the edible sand by blending some golden Oreos in the food processor till smooth. Remove the filling of half of the Oreo before blending so that the sand won't be too moist.
Set up your beach themed table by pouring the edible sand on a plate or board then arrange the Oreo crabs on it.

How to store your Oreo crabs
To keep your chocolate-dipped Oreos fresh and delicious, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, place them in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Just be sure to bring them to room temperature before serving for the best taste and texture.

Helpful Tips
- Use high-quality chocolate for dipping to ensure the best flavor and appearance.
- Allow excess chocolate to drip off before placing the Oreo crabs on parchment paper to set.
- Work in small batches to prevent the chocolate from hardening before you've finished decorating all the crabs.
- If you'd rather not pipe the crab legs with the candy melts, you can attach pretzel sticks or pieces of red licorice.
- You can swap out the red sugar pearls with red nonpareils, red sanding sugar, or red jimmies.

Oreo crabs
Ingredients
- 12 Golden Oreos
- 12 ounce package red candy melts/melting wafers
- 24 Candy eyeballs
- 2 Tablespoons Red sugar pearls or nonpareils
- Extra Golden Oreos for sand (optional)
Instructions
- Grab a sheet of parchment paper, an edible marker, and an Oreo cookie. Use the Oreo to trace circles, spacing them about 3-4 inches apart. Discard the cookie afterward if it got ink on it.
- With the marker, draw 8 crab legs extending from each circle, then add 2 claws to the front legs.
- Flip the parchment paper over and place it on a baking tray.
- Fill a piping bag with ½ cup of red candy wafers, twist it shut, and microwave on low or defrost until fully melted and smooth. Check every 30 seconds to massage the bag and ensure even heating. Let it cool for 3-5 minutes until the bag is cool to the touch. This step is crucial to prevent the candy from spilling out too quickly.
- Snip a small piece off the tip of the piping bag and trace the crab legs and claws on the parchment paper. Set aside.
- Melt the remaining red candy wafers in a microwave-safe bowl on low or defrost, stirring and checking every 30 seconds until smooth.
- Using a fork, dip an Oreo cookie into the melted red candy. Tap the fork against the bowl to remove excess coating.
- Place the dipped Oreo onto the piped crab legs. Repeat with a few more Oreos, working in small batches.
- Sprinkle the coated Oreos, leaving space in the front for the eyes.
- Add the eyes towards the front where the claws are. You can either stand the eyes up using sprinkles for support or lay them flat.
- Let the cookies set completely before serving. To speed up, refrigerate for 15-30 minutes until set.
- If you have leftover uncoated Golden Oreos, blend them to make edible sand. Remove the cream filling from at least half to avoid making the sand too wet.
Notes
- Use high-quality chocolate for dipping to ensure the best flavor and appearance.
