Celebrate Independence Day with a festive twist! Our red, white and blue Jello shots are the perfect party treat that features layers of strawberry, creamy vanilla, and blueberry flavors. Trust me, these patriotic jello shots are a delightful blend of flavors and colors.
3.4ounceStrawberry Jello(or any other red colored jello like cherry)
3.4ounceBerry blue Jello(or any other blue colored jello)
0.25ounceUnflavored gelatin
8ouncesweetened condensed milk
2teaspoonsvanilla extract
2.5cupsAbsolut Vodka (divided)
2.5cupshot water(divided)
Instructions
Arrange mini plastic cups on a large baking tray, and set them aside for later.
Bring one cup of water to a gentle boil on the stovetop.
In a heat-resistant mixing bowl, whisk together the blue jello powder and the hot water until the powder has fully dissolved.
Incorporate one cup of vodka into the mixture by stirring it in thoroughly.
Fill each cup with the blue jello liquid, stopping at approximately one-third of the cup's capacity. You can use a measuring spoon or syringe for liquids (no needle) to ensure consistent filling if desired.
Place the tray of filled cups in the refrigerator and allow them to chill for an hour and a half or until the jello has set.
Once the blue layer has set, it’s time to prepare the white layer.
Heat half a cup of water on the stovetop. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the unflavored gelatin powder and the hot water until the powder has fully dissolved.
Pour in half a cup of vodka, eight ounces of sweetened condensed milk, and the vanilla extract, stirring well to combine the ingredients.
Top off each cup with the white gelatin mixture, filling another third of the cup's capacity.
Return the tray of cups to the refrigerator and chill for an additional hour and a half or until the white layer has set.
When the white layer has set, bring one cup of water to a gentle boil on the stovetop.
Whisk together the red jello powder and the hot water until the powder has fully dissolved.
Stir in the remaining cup of vodka, ensuring it is thoroughly combined.
Fill the remaining third of each cup with the liquid red jello mixture, leaving a small space at the top if you plan to use lids.
Refrigerate the tray of cups for another hour and a half or until the jello has fully set. Keep them chilled until ready to serve.
When ready to serve, top with whipped cream and sprinkles if desired.
Notes
These shots are strong, however you can whittle down the alcohol content by diluting the vodka with water. Simply substitute some vodka with water in equal parts.
While I used unflavored vodka for this recipe, you can use your favorite flavored vodka as well.
Ensure each layer sets completely before proceeding to the next to preventing color blending. Also, avoid pouring subsequent layers at high temperatures, as this could soften the underlying layer and mix the colors.
For an alcohol-free option, simply omit the vodka and swap it out with equal amount of the water.
Delay adding toppings like whipped cream, sprinkles, or maraschino cherries until serving time to prevent melting or discoloration from dyes.
Keep these chilled until ready to serve and maintain cool temperatures during serving like leaving them in a cooler because they may begin melt if it’s a really hot day.
