Transfer the hot dogs into the air fryer basket in an even layer.
Place hot dogs in the air fryer basket and air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 6 to 8 minutes, or until it is cooked to your liking. Remember to flip the hot dogs halfway through cooking time.
Place each of the air fried hot dogs in the hot dog buns and put them in the air fryer basket. You may need ti do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
Lightly brush the tops of the buns with melted butter then air fry for another minute or two to get the buns warm and toasty.
Transfer to a serving plate and add your favorite Mexican inspired toppings.
Notes
No need to preheat the air fryer. If you do, keep an eye on the hot dogs as it may likely cook faster than stated in this recipe.
Scoring the hot dogs is optional big recommend. I've tried both ways and didn't get a bursted hot dog without scoring. However I prefer the aesthetics of the scored hot dogs.
No need to grease the air fryer, the hot dogs don't stick to the basket. You can use a perforated silicon or paper liner for easier clean up if you prefer. If using the disposable parchment paper liner, ensure you have enough hot dogs on it to keep it down.
I used beef hot dogs feel free to use turkey or pork.
