The holidays are a magical time for baking and bringing joy. If you're looking for a fun, festive treat to make this winter, snowman Rice Krispie treats are sure to delight. These adorable Christmas Rice Krispie treats are decorated like snowmen are a delight for a sweets charcuterie board or a dessert table.
Prepare a baking tray by lining it with parchment paper and set it aside.
In a large pot over low heat, melt the butter.
Reserve 2 cups of mini marshmallows for later use. Add the remaining marshmallows to the pot and melt in the butter, stirring occasionally until smooth.
Remove the pot from the heat as soon as the marshmallows are melted. Stir in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
Add the Rice Krispies cereal, the reserved marshmallows, sprinkles and m and ms folding everything into the melted marshmallows.
Work quickly as the wet mixture marshmallows can cause the sprinkles' and m & m colors to bleed.
Spread the prepared Rice Krispies mixture evenly in the baking pan, lightly pressing it down. A rubber spatula can help prevent sticking.
Add more m and ms on top of you want to.
Decorate the treats
Transfer the Red, white and blue candy melts into individual piping bags.
Melt each in the microwave at 30 secs intervals massaging in between intervals until fully melted.
Snip off the tip of the piping bags. Pipe decorative lines on the top of the cereal treat.
Allow the treats to cool for 30 to 45 mins then cut into squares before serving.
Notes
You can skip the decorating lines if you prefer
I used salted butter. If you use unsalted butter, add ⅛ teaspoon salt when adding the vanilla extract.
